Boxing out is to push your opponents out from the under basket area, so you could get the best position to do the rebound. Boxing out is one of the key to get a good rebound and gives you more advantage positions and choices to do the rebound.

How to do a box out?
1. Find the right opponent to be boxed out.
2. Make contacts with your back.
3. Always get low will provide you with strength.
4. Drive him out.
Remember to always use your hands as a guide to keep the opponent behind you. What if your being boxing out by your opponent? There are something called “tap move” and “swim move” to handle that.
Tap move is to tap your opponent’s waist at either side of his body, as he move his body to the side where you tap him, just move to the different side and you will get more chance to do the rebound.
Swim move is to use your hands to take your opponent’s hands, swim over him, and get the position for rebound.
